he climate in Vietnam makes it an ideal location for the cultivation of tobacco: the country is a developing nation with a tropical climate. Tobacco production reached a peak of 50,000 tons of tobacco produced in 2013, but total output has been decreasing since then. It had been, however, in a growth trend since the beginning of the century, assuming an increasing role in the economic landscape of certain regions of the country. Tobacco provides the Government with an important revenue stream, with over US$ 700 million of contribution to the national treasury.
