TOBACCO GENERAL EXPORTS

Poland is a very important player when tobacco is being addressed. The country is the 2nd largest exporter when tobacco is concerned (leaf and its products), shipping a value over US$ 3.3 billion, with the industry representing 1.35% of the total exports of the nation. To feed the need of tobacco leaf, the country is the 6th largest importer of tobacco leaf in the world, having imported over US$ 626 million worth of tobacco in 2017.  Sales of tobacco products in the country generated approximately US$ 7.9 billion, contributing with US$ 5.9 billion to the State budget. Illicit trade is estimated at 15%, meaning the country loses close to US$1 billion due to the sale of counterfeit and contraband tobacco products.  The tobacco industry is an important contributor for the Polish economy.
